Figures below show two+ years of bandwidth usage for the gay-japan.infopop.cc community.

It includes the forums, member profiles and the text chat rooms.

It doesn't include other hosting (jguyusguy.org, the audio/video chat, etc.)

The current plan allows for 30 GB of bandwidth usage per month.

Recently, we deleted old threads in order to reduce storage overages.

Next month, we may upgrade to a higher-bandwidth plan.

Increases you see below result from many factors - addition of photos in profiles, addition of ability to upload photos to posts, addition of the chat rooms. The big jumps came from various promos that brought guests in from outside.

Yikes! I'd hate to see you have to commit to spending more per month to address the bandwidth issue (though regular overage charges are no doubt an even worse option).

Do they provide you with even finer granularity on where the bandwidth is consumed so it might be possible to look for strategies to reduce bandwidth usage rather than continuing to pay for (ever) more of it?

Yes, we're able to get a hint from some stats that show the top ten files by kilobytes sent each month. In November I think the killer was a promo I did on Bookmarks.

We'll revisit the question early next year.
