It was four years ago, to this day, that I joined JguyUSguy.

I am deeply grateful for the moral support JguyUSguy provided me during some of the loneliest, saddest days in my life.

Unfortunately, it seems that I have far overstayed my welcome.

My heart remains forever grateful to my many friends and supporters on the site.

The time has come for another generation, another agenda, another group of members to take over.

I wish them and especially my two personal friends, Jguy and USguy, the founders of our site, all the very best.

Adieu et merci!

KF

I think it would be rash to decide to leave Jguy based on one argument... are you sure this is what you want?

Mais pourquoi, mon ami âgées?!!!

Si elle doit être ... adieu! Beaucoup d'amour pour vous et les vôtres.

KF,

What are you talking about?? Come back right this instant and stop being such a queen Wink!

You put the 'KF' in 'JguyUSguy'. What would we be without you?

I haven't seen what has taken place - but we have had our spats in the past KF. I found a break was great and helped me put things into perspective......instead of adieu, why not auf wiedersehen

Thank you all very much.

I will (try to Wink)follow Jerome's advice for a while, and make this just an "au revoir".

I seem to have placed all my mental support resources into one basket, JguyUSguy, which is not good for either of us.

The trouble is that JguyUSguy is so interesting. Where else can we talk about Obama, gay movies, music, sex and so much more with such depth, humor and civility?

By the way, I would be happy to give free French online lessons to Sonofgrecodan.

"Mon ami âgées" sounds like "You decrepit old bag and friend of mine"!

But maybe that is what he really meant, rather than "mon vieil ami"...

Lolol

Au revoir, mon ami. Wink

Okay, now that KF's not here we can talk about him without him knowing.

Did you all know that tomorrow's his birthday? It is!

How about we surprise him with a big birthday thread in which we all type things he wants to hear? For example, osakarob can write "You know what, KF? You've been right all along. There is no gay identity in Japan. Only men who perform sexual acts with men. What was I thinking? You're way ahead. Please excuse us for being at lower stages in queer development."

Well, maybe I won't go THAT far, Taddy.

But I will say "Happy Birthday, KF".

Why stop contributing to the site?
Over a difference of opinion with me?!
That is far too dramatic of an overreaction.

We all value your posts. The hallmark of all good organizations is that they have passionate and consistent people nurturing them along on a daily basis.

Please continue to post and share your thoughts.

Thank you, Rob.

I am definitely going to look into every single link you posted to try to broaden my horizons and reduce my single-minded dependence on JguyUSguy for moral support as a closeted gay.

I needed to be shaken, not stirred, and you did that for me.

Does this mean we won't have a Shinjuku Gyoen Meet-up part 2 just like last year?

I think the differences in opinions only proves that JguyUSguy is a site where everyone have the freedom to voice out what's on their minds. Though I really don't have any clue of what's happening in the site (soo busy now with studies that reading each posts will actually eat all of my time), I feel the sadness lurking around.

To KF, belated happy birthday! I know it is late but I wish you a great year ahead. I'm still looking forward to meeting you.

You disappeared for quite a long while, so it is nice to see your face again on the site.

Was there any special reason for you to take a break from JguyUSguy?

Hello.....Finding out a couple of weeks ago about you leaving the group was tantamount to diving underwater and holding my breath for a long time! and now that you're back....not only was I so releive....its like breathing air again in its purest form. I find Jguy during a very low moment in my life and most of your posting was a great part of my recovery. For that I would be forever thankful!!!!

Hey, arnelrivas you are a good guy, we have chatted or messages a while back. KF is also a fine person, perhaps a little touchy, but he seems to be sneaking back into Jguy a little at a time.

KF, go spend a weekend at the Fujita Hotel in Hakone with H-Chan. It will do a world of good for both of you, and us. Yes, a little pricy, but you can't take it with you, unless they change the rules. I recommend rooms in the Flower Palace. Skip dinner as it overpriced, but breakfast is not to be missed, and coffee and cakes are always approptiate for a romantic couple.

KF has been a selfless contributor to this site for quite a few years now. His knowledge and insights, particularly of Japan but of many other things and aspects of life as well, has been particularly highly valued. His affable and effusive demeanour engaged discussion from people of all walks of life in topics varying from the cultural and intellectual to the personal. He will certainly be missed.

But as he said, he has relied on the site for emotional support, suggesting that perhaps it was not coming from somewhere else.

KF strikes me as someone who knows how to enjoy life and loves the world. I hope he gets out there and enjoys it. He also strikes me, despite a close association with Japan, as being quintessentially French and a European. I hope he comes back this way.

Until next time, Au Revoir Monsieur.

KF, I sent you a private message tonight, but I think you also deserve this to be said on these public forums.

I want to tell you that I am sorry, KF. I was rude and lacking in manners with you earlier this year in our ongoing acrimonious exchanges about Japanese gay identity. More than that, I know that arguing with me hurt your feelings and disparaged your dignity. My exchanges with you were unconscionable. You are man of refinement, intellect and vast experience in this country. You asserted a very legitimate and true opinion. I reacted as if I were an angry teenager in a wild political protest. It was wrong of me to treat you the way I did. I feel very guilty that the exchanges with me lead to you feeling estranged from this site. Upon some meditative reflection, I would like to offer my deepest apologies to you.

I'm happy to see that you are back contributing to the site. It really isn't the same without you. You are a valued member of JguyUSguy. I hope we can continue to receive your generosity and wisdom on these threads.

Thank you very much, Rob, for your thoughtful, gracious words.

Action invites reaction.

My action was bad. I had gradually become pretentious, giving myself a sense of entitlement on the site that was undeserved and unjustified.

It is something I deeply regret now, having originally joined the site with natural humility and shyness.

Emotionally, your reaction shocked me into profound soul-searching. I was forced to ask myself what it was in me that rubbed you so violently the wrong way. Now I know. I will never do it again.

You taught me much, and helped me a lot.

For that I remain deeply grateful to you.

With renewed thanks,

KF

Ditto here. The mood of the forums gets slightly awkward when two of the main contributors are having at each other. Red Face

So that's what I've missed when I was absent for a long time! I was also puzzled by the immediate words of departure from the site. But I am glad that everything is now settled and in place. As for me to compensate my self for being absent too long without any body missing me, I have discovered the audio/video chat yesterday! Oh boy..it is like going to the candy store! Really.

I am glad to see that fence mending has started to happen.

Rob, I agree that the gay community in Japan is starting to change and be somewhat more open. But social change in this country tends to be a slow process and I think what KF describes better fits the pattern I know.

KF, I agree that you were pounded on rather soundly, but as an old Japan hand for more years than even you, but not continuiously I do think that some change may be afoot with the younger generation. Our generation you describe to a T.

I look forward to a productive dialogue on this and other subjects in the future.
