ABOUT US --> SITE DATA

:: :: :: :: :: :: ::

Sometimes we get irritated when members think we should spend more time developing the site and the community.

Seems strange, doesn't it? Most sites welcome suggestions.

We're different.

It seems like we're talking about this all the time, but there are many newbies using the site who have no clue about our situation. Every now and then we suppose we have to re-explain things for their sake.

We should have terminated JguyUSguy a long time ago. The only reason the community is still going is because there are about a dozen guys (including the two of us) who volunteer part-time (we're all part-time) to help us manage things, and about a dozen guys who regularly contribute money to keep paying the bills.

It's worth doing because we like the community. So many other guys have contributed so much energy to writing in the forums or building networks of friends in the chat rooms.

THE IMPORTANT PART
Nobody works full-time on JguyUSguy. We're all busy guys who volunteer a few minutes a day to maintain the community.

Nobody gets paid. We lose money. Ads pay for only about 10% of the costs. Donations pay for about 50% (yearly average).

We, the founders, have actually found that our careers have suffered because of the time and energy we have devoted to the community.

So, any time you ask us to spend more time we have a bitter reaction, naturally, and may even respond to you with words that kinda bite your head off. Please don't take it personally. It's just a product of our situation.

We don't think of this as a business. We are investing our time into other pursuits and have no desire to invest more in JguyUSguy.

We don't want the site to grow and we don't want to become more "popular." We just want it to remain a nice little community of very cool guys.

We want to spend less time on this, not more.

Wondering what YOU can do to help?
Well here are some suggestions:
  • Don't ask us to upgrade or adjust the forum or chat applications. Send your suggestions to Groupee/eve or, in the case of the audio/video chat, to Userplane.com
  • Don't ask us to re-design the site navigation or features. We have no full-time staff. Remember.
  • Don't suggest new features or functions. We're not engineers or developers. We're just two guys who bring other guys together for fun, friendship and maybe more.
  • Don't suggest that we go out looking for advertisers. We have no sales staff. Remember. It's too much bother for busy guys to deal with. You may not think so, but it is.
  • If you can avoid it, please don't email us asking for support. Take care of your own account. Use the Help/FAQ /よくある質問 pages. If you can't figure out how to upload your photo to your profile, ask another member, not us, or see the tips we posted, here.
  • Every photo uploaded to the site costs us more money in bandwidth. Please choose carefully what is worth uploading, with the knowledge that bandwidth costs money. Thanks.
  • Tolerate the site's user-unfriendliness and occasional inconveniences. Don't complain. Teach others how to use things. If you hear somebody else complaining, tell them to look at this post.
  • Clean up after yourself. Many members think it's okay to post the same message over and over every week. If you clean up your old messages, it's okay. If you don't, it's not okay. To edit or delete your old messages, visit each message and click on this icon: 14
  • Got a problem with the Groupee chat application? Contact Groupee/eve, not us.
  • Got a problem with the audio/video chat room? Contact Userplane.com, not us.
  • Help the moderators. When you see somebody breaking the rules or posting spam, notify the moderators. Click on this icon: 13. It's a matter of responsible citizenship.
  • Contribute content. You like reading the forums? If you have been a lurker, why not add some of your thoughts to topics? Open a photo album. (If you're sexy, it's not a waste of bandwidth. Hehe.)
  • Contribute money. Financial support for this community comes from users like you. Click here for more information.
Anyway, hope we don't sound too negative. We love you guys, but we have to maintain our sanity and our livelihoods at the same time.

So, even if we're sometimes not user friendly, we hope you'll be friendly users!

Cheers!

Jguy and USguy

I'm a volunteer moderator for the Inside Japan forum and I also process many of the applications for membership. I spend about an hour every day doing this job. I don't get paid a thing, and I donate money to the site every year.
I do this because I met my boyfriend in the chat room three years ago. We are still together, and someday soon we can even take the final step of living together as a real couple.
I hope everyone can get something out of our community. And I hope those of you who do get something, will also give something back to the community. Be a good netizen and do your part.
Thanks for your support!

There's a saying which goes: "You can't pleased all the people all the time.". Humans are by nature greedy, when they get something, they want more. And when they get more, they want even more. So where do we stop?

Guess, I am not making any sense here. Confused bottomline, I think you guys (moderators/chatters, etc) are doing a gret job here.

If anyone has complaint, maybe they should take up the job themselves.

bear hugs and kisses to the mods. Kissass

Thank you very much for asking, olderguy100000. We always need support like this. You can send via P a y P a l to recipient hello[at]jguyusguy.org. Or you can send furikomi, in which case we'd like to discuss privately. Click "Contact me" in my signature for that.

You rock, man!
